Alan has been a bible-believing christian for more than 40 years. A passionate truth seeker all his life, his spiritual hunger and questioning mind have led him through a number of evangelical, pentecostal and radical christian denominations, and he still has connections with many of them. Convinced that the reformation is not finished, and persuaded that Jesus yearns for his people to be visibly united, Alan seeks to share his insights through a personal web site in which he publishes his essays. With a heart for evangelism, he also maintains one of the world’s most popular web sites on christian evidences. To date it has received more than 250,000 visitors. Alan has a keen interest in the writings of the early church, and as these have now become much more accessible, he looks forward to seeing their impact on all churches in the coming decades.
With his previous occupation as a scientist (mathematics, oceanography), Alan also seeks to build bridges between people of science and faith, reminding christians who distrust science that Galileo was proved right! He is deeply concerned about our abuse of creation, and has written a number of articles on the causes of, and solutions to, climate change.
His interests outside of reading and writing include photography, chess, sailing his radio-controlled yacht, and enjoying nature. He has never been married, but thinks the Lord may yet bless him in this regard. He has a number of christian nephews and nieces that he looks forward to see mature in Jesus.
Alan can be reached through the contact details on either of his web sites.

Most of us have been exposed to the huge ecumenical push of recent decades, and have also seen that this push seems headed towards creating a dumbed down oneness that may eventually include holding hands with the Pope, moderate Islam and the New Age and saying that we “all worship the same God”. So it’s easy for us to react against it and become more isolationist and protective than ever. But, in the end this only results in the true testimony being weakened, while the tares are left to take over. It seems that the wheat, God’s people, need more than ever at this time to build bridges with one another, to learn from one another, to strengthen one another, and to be together a clear New Testament witness to this generation.
Each of the “ambassadors” listed in this section of the website have accepted the invitation to represent “their people” (group / denomination / etc), and to be a point of contact for answering questions, helping people find other spiritually sound representatives of “their people” in various locations, and being available to speak in churches or other such meetings of denominational and non-denominational groups. We hope this will provide just one practical means of opening doors between different parts of the body of Christ. Note that these people are not necessarily formal denominational representatives and therefore claim no special endorsement other than their willingness to build bridges and communicate.
